UFC 91

So I watched the PPV tonight. It was a nice, quick PPV, especially since only one fight went into the 3rd round, and that one only lasted half a minute into that round. Some GREAT submission victories tonight, including one where it looked liked dudes arm broke in half.

Oh, and the main event? Well, it wasn’t a long fight, and to be honest, it appeared as if Randy Coutoure had absolutely no chance against the man-beast Brock Lesnar. He was totally overmatched, overpowered and made to look TINY in comparrison. My god, did Brock dwarf him. And the TKO finish? Well, in my eyes, it looked like it took everything the ref had not to stop the fight about 20 hammer punches before he did, but I’m guessing that if he stopped the fight maybe even a second too early, the place would have fuckin’ rioted. But finally, he had to do what he had to do, and stop the carnage. And for those fans who thought it was a bad call, you must have missed the fact that Randy didn’t get off the mat for a good couple of minutes. Yeah, he was rocked.

Good night of fights all around though. No sloppy fights, no boring-ass decissions. A lot of action. And I think I’m a little excited to see BJ Penn vs. St. Pierre in January, and even the Rashard Evans/Forrest Griffin card. Good times, indeed…

UFC fight this weekend…

The Brock Lesnar vs. Randy “The Natural” Coutour UFC Heavyweight championship fight is this weekend, and I am planning on watching it, making it the first actual UFC PPV event I have watched. I’ve been a growing fan of the sport for a few years now, and now I’m really starting to get into it. It helps that I know some people now who are into it as well.

So the fight … my prediction? I think Randy will win by split decision. I see the two going at it all fight and it being very close to call. However, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see a quick knockout or submission, from either one, as they both have the skill set to do either. It’s going to be a damn good fight either way though, as far as I can tell. Let’s hope it lives up to the hype.
